Folks,
I'M about to start flying again, and so am giving the 3600a a serious
look! I currently have one of the original 3600, which is nearly
invisible when outdoors.
I notice that the 3600a now has a transflective TFT, and so I'm hoping
that somebody has tried it and can comment on how visible it is in full
sunlight.
Thanks!

Can't speak about the Garmin, would never get one as it runs Palm.
That's just stupid. I have a Dell X50v that works so well with my
bluetooth GPS I just sold my Garmin 96C on ebay.

I find the 3600A very readable in the cockpit. It is most readable with the
backlight on. You can select always on and the yoke package will plug into
the cigarette lighter so that will not be a problem. The life without
additional power is supposed to be 3 hours.

We haven't heard any complaints about the 3600A from those that we have
sold so far.

Can you still call it a cigarette lighter in a plane? ;)

Yes. It's preferable to calling it the "detonator plug". :)

i have a dell axim x30, and it has pretty poor visibility in
sunlight. i know the x50 has a different display - have you
ever been able to compare it with the x30?

No. The X50v works fine in sunlight.
